| Our jams and marmalades |
|
It all began in cousin Pere's apple tree field in Ultramort. That year, the apples were too small and unsalable, he decided so to share them out among friends and family.
I took some, as many as my car's trunk could carry. But once at home, I realised that I had to find a way to use so many apples before they got overriped!
One solution: learn how to make jam and marmalade.
When I got tired of preparing again and again the same apple jam with sugar, I started to look around in my kitchen cupboards, and then were born the so called "inventions": apple and coffee, apple and cinnamon, apple and liqueur, apple and chocolate... till the apples finished.
The thing is that I was enjoying it, so I carried on making jams and marmalades with anything coming from the vegetable garden: tomato, pumpkin, grapes, melon, "madroņos".
Our jams were really tasteful, but there was a problem: we did not have legal permission to make them. And that's why nowadays we buy them from a specialized place, where they make them as good as ours but fulfilling all legal terms. Anyway, you'll taste them yourself once here and let us know what you think about them.
