Francesc's vegetable garden
Francesc has got a vegetable garden, right here, behind the village. You'll often see him, up and down, with his wheelbarrow, carrying lettuce, roquet salad, tomatoes, peppers... according with the season.
What we enjoy the most from his harvesting are the tomatoes "de colgar" ("to hang"), the ones we use to spread on the bread for breakfast. They are so natural, so beautiful and so different from the ones in the supermarket, that many times we have guests looking for tomatoes on the breakfast buffet when in fact they are right there in front of them, they just cannot figure that "these things" are tomatoes. Some people see them as apricots, some others really have no idea of what it could be... This kind of tomatoes is named "de colgar" ("to hang") because, once they're collected, they are all joined together in a bunch and hanged in a dry store. There, we can keep them one year long... (the stock, usually, doesn't last that much!!). From outside they are a lightly yellow coloured, small sized and with a very thin skin. Inside they are melting like jam. When you spread them on the bread, the skin remains on your fingers.
